GWTP Delivery Partners
About the Role:
OCAA and the Ground Worker Training Program (GWTP) is seeking two skilled and organized
Curriculum Developers to lead the development of a new one-day workshop for incumbent workers in
the arboriculture industry.
This workshop will focus on Control Methods for Tree Pests and provide upscale training for
industry professionals.
As part of a two-person development team, you will design all course content and materials, including
a teaching manual and student resources (class notes, power point presentation).
You will work collaboratively with OCAA, delivery partners (ISAO, OCAA, and The Career
Foundation), and the Career Foundation’s Skills Development Fund (SDF) Program Manager.
This role is ideal for someone with strong industry experience, curriculum design expertise, excellent
writing skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop the structure, content and objectives of a new Arboriculture focused workshop.
• Identify, design, and develop appropriate learning materials.
• Create a detailed teaching manual, power point presentation and student resources.
• Understand the target audience’s learning styles and adapt materials accordingly.
• Clearly articulate learning objectives, outcomes, and assessment tools.
• Review existing arborist curriculum to ensure alignment and complementarity.
• Design assessment tools consistent with outcomes-based education.
• Ensure all teaching materials align with learning outcomes.
• Work closely with OCAA and the Delivery Partners at all review stages.
• Research current industry training programs, employer requirements, and best practices in adult
education.
• Maintain regular check-in reporting to OCAA Liaison.
• Maintain milestone-based reporting the Delivery Partners.
Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional time management, project coordination, writing, and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Sensitivity to the needs of diverse learners, including groups underrepresented in arboriculture.
• Ability to collaborate with ISA Ontario, Delivery Partners, and the SDF Program Manager.
• Strong understanding of adult education practices and trades training theories.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and adapt materials for diverse learning needs.
• High-quality written documentation skills.

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with design software (Adobe

Qualifications & Experience
• Experience with curriculum development writing preferred.
• Experience with content design and editing.
• Excellent research and critical thinking skills.
• Familiar with adult education practices including working with learning materials and lesson plans.
• Successful completion of relevant education preferred.
• Arboriculture knowledge is an asset but not required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team management skills.
• Able to deliver and facilitate project presentations to the Delivery Partners.
• Demonstrated ability to create content for diverse groups, including some with special needs.
• Use of your own personal computer and software programs and internet access.
• Must be available to attend update meetings with the Delivery Partners meetings online.
• Experience managing staff and delegating tasks.
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB, Arborist Safe Work Practices and
other related Acts, Rules and Regulations.
